I’m not talking about those white polar bears in this post. Or about other animals that hibernate in winters. I’m talking about your laptop and/or personal computer (PC).
Chances are you might have heard this a way long time ago, that it’s not good to switch on and switch off your computer in a short range of time, let alone as often as possible. So I guess lots of times you set your computer to standby when you must leave for only about half an hour or so and don’t want to log off.
From many articles I have read (and you might have as well), setting your computer to standby while leaving consumes much more energy than setting it to sleep or, even better, hibernate.
For the sake of energy efficiency, next time you leave the computer, hibernate, don’t standby (your computer, not you).
