Between Solitude and Community

10th August 2008

If we are to hold solitude and community together as a true paradox, we need to deepen our understanding of both poles. Solitude does not necessarily mean living apart from others; rather, it means never living apart from one’s self. It is not about the absence of other people – it is about being fully present to ourselves, whether or not we are with others. Community does not necessarily mean living face-to-face with others; rather, it means never losing the awareness that we are connected to each other. It is not about the presence of other people – it is about being fully open to the reality of relationship, whether or not we are alone.

Enjoy your solitude, but thanks for being a part of Gorgeous Inspirations community :)

I Love You How Big?

9th August 2008

I am still so much in love with my husband-to-be (H2B)–yes, I’m revealing my deepest secret now. How much? Indescribable.

But I like this quote from What A Girl Wants movie:

I love you a million Swedish fish!

And I love you a million M&Ms!

What’s your love message for today?

Announcing Other New Blog Sections

6th August 2008

Following Happy Journal and Love Journal, it’s time to announce other new sections of this inspirational blog.

Alike the first two, I might request guest bloggers to post to these new sections.

MY NEXT BLOG NEIGHBOR

There is enormous number of blogs out there in the blogosphere, don’t you think at least some of them are inspiring for you?

So every Sunday, whether I’ll invite another blogger to post, or I’ll jot down something inspiring about what another blogger mentions on his/her blog, so that you can feel the inspiration splash as well.

GRATITUDE JOURNAL

This one is inspired by Sarah Ban Breathnach’s Simple Abundance. The post will be for every Monday, containing things that make me feel so grateful, be it on that exact day or merely anytime.

So, keep reading the blog :)

P.S. If you want to write for one or more of the two new sections of the blog, please contact me.

Announcing the Happiness Journal and Love Journal

5th August 2008

Okay, so I’m gonna go a bit more ’structured’ in this so-called inspirational blog.

Let’s start with these two inspirational journals: Happy Journal and Love Journal

HAPPINESS JOURNAL

This will be for every Friday (don’t ask why, as there’s no specific reason, really) and is inspired by the one Elizabeth Gilbert writes herself.

Each Friday I’m going to post only happy stuff, i.e. things that make me happy on that exact day or the day earlier or throughout that week, or simply anytime.

In the comment part, you don’t necessarily have to comment on my concerning post. Since it’s a happiness journal, by all means, please just share what makes you happy.

LOVE JOURNAL

This one is enthused by Alton and Patricia’s love letters (and check this out as well) and will be posted every Saturday.

Originally, Alton and Patricia’s letters consist of something like these:
1. How I feel today…
2. I love you today because…
3. A question that bugs me today is…

In this love journal, I’m going to write either one of the three above—just my expression toward my loved one (and this one could be my friend, my family, or anyone I love).

FYI, I don’t necessarily have to write the two journals by myself. Some time, I might invite another guest blogger to post them.

These journals are solely intended to make us all (that, including me) really sense that gorgeousness is precisely about being conscious of small, ‘mundane’ things around us.

So, look forward to the new journals :) (and wait for other new sections for the blog)

P.S. If you want to write for one or two of the journals, please contact me.

What Inspires Your Color Palettes?

4th August 2008

Have your life ever been inspired by orange fruits? Okay, have you ever thought that orange fruits could inspire a wedding?

There’s a woman who seems to be easily inspired by many ‘mundane’ things around her. Let me introduce you with Alexis Givens, one of the experts of Martha Stewart’s Weddings.

Besides by orange fruits, she could think of many other color palettes for weddings to inspire brides-and-grooms-to-be, simply from stuff like a Colorado bird, a vintage book, and even a diner sign!

I told you, gorgeous inspirations are just here, there, and everywhere ;)

Gorgeous Activity: Pose With Your Book

2nd August 2008

If you love books, let alone being captured in photos, you would never think that posing with your book before a camera is a ridiculous thing to do.

Kutukutubuku.com, a famous online book store in Indonesia has this great activity for you all to join on their Facebook page: pose with your currently-reading book! Doesn’t that sound so much fun?

Put aside the fact that they’d award a gift voucher for the most interesting picture, and even if you don’t join the contest, just have fun with all those taking-pictures part :D
