The Inspiration That Keeps the Doctor Away

posted in Gorgeous Activity |

I exaggerate the above title a bit. So let me tell you how one event encourages a nation to be healthy.

Recently, my country hosted the Thomas-Uber Cup, a prestigious badminton match, this year involving 16 countries worldwide.

The event was held only for one week, but afterward (even though Indonesia didn’t get both of Thomas and Uber), I start catching sight of people everywhere (at least in the city I live in) playing badminton, day or even night (seriously, at night).

Badminton has always been one of Indonesia’s fave sports, but every time some particular big sport events occur, then the fever starts—not only do the ‘true’ sport-goers enjoy it, but even the ‘sport-haters’ do.

The kids in my neighborhood bought badminton rackets and birdies (or maybe just took theirs outside from the dusty cabinets) and play badminton (while pretending that they’re playing to get Thomas Cup) every afternoon for hours in front of the mosque—cheerfully.

I also happened to see some teens downtown play it at night in front of a already-closed mini-market—cheerfully.

What an inspiration :D

yeah yeah yeah, my lil brother was *and is* also keen on playing badminton recently. pretending himself to be Indonesian-badminton-player hero, I guess…

I myself, frankly speaking, also really love to play it, but having no time to do. Since, yeah, don’t ever talk about playing badminton! Even my very-own-duty for campus has not been finished yet! While… aargh the final examination is closer, closer, and closer…

    HELP

    Actually, here’s the latest news:
those kids in my neighborhood now have put their rackets+birdies away (again) and prefer to play hide and seek (don’t ask me why—but I’ve told my father to ask one of those kids to lend… no, to give me his no-longer-used racket—somebody loving the sport has to has the opportunity to have one!).

Oops, almost forgot… wish you luck on the exam :)

Buena suerte! (the Spanish for “good luck!”)

yes…the similar thing also happened in my neighborhood, children never put down their rackets until the night comes.
